Lisa Sohmer, counselor

“The Advanced college essay seminar offered by Ethan Sawyer (College Essay Guy) was very helpful in understanding multiple alternate/advanced techniques to format college essays. The theory was very well supported by real life essay examples to solidify the concept and style. Highly recommend for counselors as well as students. I am a college essay counselor and found it very useful. ”

Archana, counselor

“From the essay brainstorming exercises and advanced essay techniques to Ethan’s live counselor sessions, I’ve gained many new tips and tricks to enlighten students. Now their hum-drum essays spring to life with “Ah-Ha!” moments. From all of my students and me ~ Thank you Team Ethan!!”

Patricia, Counselor

“Ethan helps me ask better questions of myself during the essay review process, as well as of my students when coaching them through brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and polishing. Every session gave me actionable strategies and/or tools for improving my work with students, which is the mark of truly exceptional professional development, in my opinion. Additionally, Ethan conveys a great sense of warmth and care when engaging with educators which helps me trust that he has students’ best interests at heart when he’s suggesting these tools, strategies, and techniques.”

Christine, Counselor

“ I have read Ethan’s book and watched many of his free videos, but this training provides a level of instruction and insight far beyond those resources. Taking it will help anyone looking to hone an important part of their college counseling skills with the goal of truly helping students.”
