Take the long view--think about success 5-10 years after college and what it would look like to be successful and happy then (not just as you are finishing high school).

The best way to maximize scholarship potential is by applying to colleges that offer merit aid where you are above the average profile. This is the biggest source of scholarship dollars that is the easiest to access, especially for families who won't qualify for need-based aid.
